Women’s Health

Both our male and female doctors have expertise in cervical screening, breast examinations, polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopausal symptoms, and other conditions such as endometriosis, menstrual irregularities, ovarian pathology, fertility and family planning. In particular, our female doctors Dr Amy Lee, Dr Dayani Ruberu and Dr Elizabeth Welner see a large number of specialised women’s health conditions on a daily basis.

Women’s Health FAQs

Every 5 years following a previously normal test result, more frequently if abnormal. Patient self collected cervical sample testing is now available, however this does not detect any other infectious condition or pathology which would require a physical examination by a doctor.

Breast lumps can often be a sign of something sinister, however familiarising oneself with the normal anatomy and regularly checking each month to detect any change is recommended.

At Alma Village Medical Centre, doctors are able to personally assess your needs to determine the best type of contraception for you. There are many factors that may influence whether an oestrogen containing contraceptive pill will be suitable. Alternatives include a progesterone only pill ‘minipill’, monthly injectable progesterone ‘depot’ option, or a longer lasting three yearly implantable progesterone option. Your GP may refer you to a specialist local to the Caulfield North area for the option of a five yearly intra-uterine device if appropriate.
